Gamification for Star Wars Rebels.

Overview
Tokyo Digital led the digital strategy for the European launch of Disney’s Star Wars Rebels. Our task was to develop immersive online experiences that reflected the show’s storytelling and visual identity. We created interactive storyboards and gamification features that deepened fan engagement and helped extend the world of the series beyond the screen.
Challenge
The project needed to capture the rich narrative and visual style of Star Wars Rebels, a series set between Episodes III and IV and influenced by Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept art. The campaign had to appeal to a diverse European audience while staying faithful to the tone of the franchise. We also had to build a digital strategy and product suite that could match the scale and ambition of a major Disney release.
Solution
We created a cohesive set of digital experiences tied to the series’ themes and timeline. Our approach focused on interactive storyboarding and gamification, allowing fans to engage with characters, plotlines, and settings in a hands-on way. This helped reinforce the show’s narrative and encouraged ongoing participation from fans across Europe. The result was a digital launch that complemented the TV release and contributed to the series’ lasting popularity.
